I Do Not Believe In New Year’s Resolution

It is 2010. It is New Year!  Happy New Year To All!

New Year signifies the start of a new beginning.

To others, it is a new year so their lives must be new also. New in way that whatever they did in the past must be changed. Hence, lists of New Year’s resolution are everywhere…here and there.

I did not make any list of New Year’s Resolution.  I do not believe in it.

For me, if I would like to change I am not going to wait for a new year to come then change.  If I will change something, I’ll change it in the here and now.

I am not going to make any list just like what others did.  I am not going to enlist those whatever it is that must be changed.   For me, it is not the right thing.  Hey, please note this is my “personal” opinion and I am not saying that those who wrote their resolutions are wrong.

What I believe in is the saying “Begin with the End in Mind.”  Instead of making a New Year’s Resolution what I did was enlisted the many “ENDs” I would like for myself.  And, these do not just cover 2010 or a one-year “Ends.”  These are those “Ends” what I would like to do, be or have for my life.  Some of these can be accomplished in 2010 others maybe in more than a year or so.

These “Ends” are enumerated in “My 101 Dreams.” These are the “Ends” I would like to have, be or do in this lifetime (I do not like to say before I die but rather I would say “in this lifetime”—while I am given the chance to breathe…while gifted with “today”…) whether they are big or small, material or immaterial.

  1. This post reminded me of my mom. Every year she would say the exact same things about resolutions. ;o) As for me, I have never made them at all. I guess I listened to my mom after all. ;o) take care my friend.
